Historical script (chữ Nôm / Hán)
Before the Latin alphabet (chữ Quốc ngữ) became standard, dắt could be written as 㩫, 迭, 逸, 𢩮. Today Vietnamese is written only in the Latin alphabet.
Etymology
From Proto-Vietic *-tac. Attested in Phật thuyết đại báo phụ mẫu ân trọng kinh (佛說大報父母恩重經) as 怛⿰亇, with the first phonetic element as 怛 (MC tat) (modern SV: đát). The second element is most likely an example of dấu cá (visually seen as 亇) to indicate that the word written with the sign is chữ Nôm instead.
